Huggins Eyeing Charleston's TyQuane Goard

Bob HugginsSince Bob Huggins took over at West Virginia in 2007, he and his staff have made the New York metropolitan area and homegrown talent around the state of West Virginia chief priorities in recruiting.

Huggins added four New Yorkers -- Truck Bryant, Devin Ebanks, Kevin Jones and Dan Jennings -- in the 2008 and 2009 classes. From the home state, the WVU staff signed Mountain State Academy (Beckley) prospects Deniz Kilicli, in 2009, and David Nyarsuk, in 2010. Homegrown point guard Noah Cottrill, a Poca native, also signed in the 2010 class and is already known around the Mountain State for his scoring exploits at Poca, MSA and now Logan High.

Continuing that trend, the WVU staff is eyeing TyQuane Goard -- a 6-foot-7, 197-pound junior small forward from George Washington High, in Charleston.

Huggins Working to Add 7-Foot Brothers

sim bhullarKiski School (Pa.) centers Sim and Tanveer Bhullar are unmistakable and imposing physical specimens on a basketball floor. Sim, a sophomore, stands at a befuddling 7-foot-4, looking down, ever slightly, at his younger brother, Tanveer, a 7-foot-2 freshman.

“Ever since I was little, I was pretty tall, but the past few years, I started growing a lot more,” said Sim, who is 295 pounds.

“I was a normal child when I was born,” Tanveer said, now 285 pounds. “But I think since I hit grade one or grade two, I started growing a lot.”
