It's that time again -- Click below for Monday's installment of EerSports.com's new nightly feature updating you on the latest news from the WVU recruiting trail.
Avery Williams
Avery Williams, a versatile athlete for Calvin Coolidge High School, in Washington, D.C., named WVU his leader back in October, but on Monday, he explained Utah now sits atop his list of finalists, along with West Virginia, Kansas, and Michigan State.
“Right now, I’m favoring Utah because of the good time I had out there,” said Williams, who plays defensive back, safety, running back and slot receiver.
The 5-foot-10, 168-pound speedster has been awaiting a written offer to materialize from Georgia, but that has not yet happened. Williams said he is still in regular contact with UGA wide receivers coach Tony Ball, who expresses mutual interest.
More recently, New Mexico has entered the bidding for Williams. “I got a new offer from New Mexico from coach [Mike] Locksley,” said Williams.
Back on the WVU side of Williams’ recruiting, Williams said he’s maintained regular contact with Mountaineers assistant Chris Beatty.
Calvin Coolidge sits at 7-3 currently, and Williams has scored 12 offensive touchdowns this season.
On Friday, Williams is slated to take an official visit to Michigan State. He originally planned on committing around Thanksgiving time, but said it may be pushed back nearer to Christmas. “I plan on taking some more visits,” he said, adding that he does not have any more scheduled at this time.
Doug Rigg
Recently it appeared Bergen Catholic High School (Oradell, N.J.) linebacker and running back Doug Rigg was close to announcing his commitment to the Mountaineers. Rigg explained last week that he was close to committing, specifying the news would probably break later this month.
“Things are fine and I’m not sure about the commitment,” he sent in a text message on Monday. Rigg’s situation with WVU does not appear to have changed, but it still remains to be seen when he will officially commit.
He currently has WVU as his No. 1 choice, followed by Rutgers and Iowa.
Rigg has not taken any other official visits this fall besides one to WVU, which was back on Sept. 12, when the Mountaineers welcomed in East Carolina.
Sherard Cadogan
Cherry Hill, N.J. defensive end Sherard Cadogan is taking his time in selecting the school that best fits him and WVU may end up being that school.
“My top four schools are Pitt, WVU, Wisconsin and Michigan State,” he said via text message on Monday.
Cadogan visited WVU back when the Mountaineers hosted Colorado, on Oct. 1. His visit to Morgantown turned in rave reviews, but after that, he also took official visits to South Carolina, Pitt, Wisconsin and Michigan State.
It remains unknown when Cadogan will announce his commitment. He did not respond when asked about a potential time frame for that news.
Latwan Anderson Goes Interception-Crazy
Mountaineers defensive back prospect Latwan Anderson has long been one of the highest rated prospects on the WVU board, and it was easy to see why last weekend, as Anderson picked of four passes, returning one for 99 yards, to lead his team to a big win over St. Ignatius.

Ash Update
Highly sought Pahokee (Fla.) defensive lineman Richard Ash is still very much on the table for WVU. And sources close to Ash tell us he's made great strides academically and should be qualified to play next year. WVU, LSU, UCLA, South Florida and Rutgers are Ashes top five. We hear it could very well come down to WVU and UCLA, thoug Ash is seemingly not close to committing, so it remains an open field. Stay tuned for an in-depth update on Ash later this week.
